Women's Walter Dyer Moccasin 2 Eye Size 8
This is an original pair of Walter Dyer moccasins made back in the 1970's. Walter Dyer started making moccasins back in the 1950's and since opening his first store in Rockport, MA his moccasins have been a cultural phenomenon. By the 1970's, if you didn't own a pair of Walter Dyer moccasins, you weren't cool! Using a thick heavy, English Elk chrome tanned leather Walter made his moccasins, a moccasin that when worn will warm to your foot and hug your foot, as Walter used to say, “like a fat ladies' girdle”. Every moccasin is completely stitched by hand and whenever possible, no machinery is used. No insole or arch support was ever used. It is just you and the earth under your feet! Although Walter no longer makes moccasins, we have found a few pair that were made back in the day when times were simpler. Here is a pair of one of his originals. You may need to wear these mocs with a sock at first or for maybe only a few hours at a time until they "break in". Once the oil in the moccasin warms up to your foot and softens up, people have always said that it was like going barefoot. I hope that you get many years of enjoyment out of your new pair of mocs. Walter would say have “Happy Feet and Smiling Toes.” Once these are gone, there will be no more.
Mink oil, neatsfoot oil, or for that matter, any type of leather oil can be used and will help soften and keep them soft.
They can get slippery when the bottoms get wet so be careful when walking from the outside onto a smooth floor. Enjoy!
